Elder is a lovely shrub/tree that is the source of first Elder Flowers, then Elder Berries. Both have been used historically for anti-viral herbs in teas and herbal cold remedies. Elder has been used by herbalists and kitchen witches for centuries as a staple for winter health. The flowers were used for children's preparations, since the flavor is less strong and astringent.
